Wow
its been a while since ive done a movie review when in reality ive seen a lot
of recent movies but just havnt had the time to do a detailed review of them.
Some of them include Unknown, Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part two, the Mechanic,
the Machinist, Brick and Horrible Bosses just to name a few. My favorite of
those ones was Brick and should defiantly be on everyone’s watched list, but
back to the task at hand; Blue Valentine. My girlfriend and me watched this last night after many months of waiting for it to become available and let me
say that for a drama I surprisingly loved it.

I just got home from watching Steven Soderbergh's latest triumph film Contagion. Ive been following this film for a while and have been quite excited to actually see it. An well woven story, stellar casting with superb acting along with a subtle yet impact full score creates a wonderful cinematic adventure. Basically Contagion shows how the world would react and survive with a un survivable worldwide epidemic rippled through the population. find out what I thought after the break.
I just finished Thor, and during my viewing I experienced an odd sensation that happened to me to few times in the past. Its the sensation that I am experiences exact things that either A) I have thought up or B) that I want to go and do. It was very strange to happen during a comic book film as most of the time these happen with something that is at least plausible such as walking on Mars or exploring the Amazon, being shot through space in a light cannon with a weapon the weight of the sun. Its very rare that I identify so closely with a film that is not heavy traditional science fiction but the mix of Norse Mythology, Fantasy, Epic Battles, and Awe inspiring space sets has left me sorta mesmerized. By now you can tell I loved the film but find out how much after the break.
Earlier this morning I finally finished my eagerly anticipated download of Conan Obrien Cant Stop, a documentary about his cross country tour last year while he was publicly bared from appearing on TV, internet or radio by NBC. I was really excited about this when it aired at Sundance at the beginning of the year as Im personally a strong Conan fan and regularly watch the Conan show and listen to the team Coco podcast. Did this live up to the hype or did it fall short? Find out after the break.
I was so excited for this. So pumped to watch Conan and his crew travel across the country and experience so much of the amazingness discussed on the show and a lot of the inside jokes from the Team Coco podcast. Since he was fucked over by NBC Conan was bared from appearing on any TV, Radio or internet in return for a healthy sum of money for Conan and his loyal crew who just a year before had uprooted their lives from the west coast and traveled to the other side of the country to New York. Practically the only this conan could do was put on a live tour which is what he decided to do. Watching Conan push the button to tweet news of this tour and then seeing when almost half of the 40 odd tour sold out within hours.
Little snippits of his life like this are cool along with the main crew dealing with the billions of problems that came up during the tour. The problem is that this is all assembled with little overall flow and feels very put together at the last moment. The overall themes of Conan getting tired are not displayed artistically enough and there are few amazing moments.
I wish I could live his life. He really works non stop and he even says he cant stop and just cant stand still. Hes one of my favourite heros and i really respect him, im just concerned that one day he will stop and burn out. Id suggest if you can find it..watch it.

Omfg. My brain is mush. This film is like an hour long childs toy commercial gone insanely amazing. If you like Tim and Eric, or Adventure Time or anything on Adult Swim you need to check out A Town Called Panic NOW! So the story is about a toy cowboy a toy indian and a toy horse who go on a crazy adventure. It sounds stupid but it is perhaps one of the most well crafted stop motion films ive ever seen. What are you doing!! download it now

I Just watched super eight. Yes after being disappointed and only getting to see the first five minutes of the film before the projector broke I finally got to go and see the wildly hyped J. J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg syfy film. Ill get to the meat of the sandwich quick and say that this is a fantastic film, and that I heavily enjoyed it, however I wouldn’t say it’s a ten out of ten yet. So here we go.
Kay so first shot is in a factory and a worker takes down the numbers from a couple years without an accident. Then we see a kid sitting alone on a swing set in the middle of winter. Then the projector shut off and wouldn't turn back on so we got two free movie tickets each. Overall not a deep plot but whatever. Kay so technical difficulties are a part of every part of life and occasionally when you go to pay to see a movie something fucks up and your experience is ruined. fortunately for me this happened within the first three minutes of the film but i remember the last time a film fucked up for me was Spider Man 2 when they showed the last ten minutes of the film at the beginning...yeah kinda rude. But anyways the staff made it right and hopefully later this week ill have an actual review.
Share your mix ups at the theatre below :D
Green Hornet
I finally got around to watching the green hornet staring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Cameron Diaz. This modern telling of 1930s radio program was meant to bring the old and the new together, something all audiences could like. One of my favorite shows Mythbusters even spent an entire episode devoted to it which could mean only one thing right? Wrong, everything is wrong and find out why after the break.
Well on tuesday i went out for cheep night to see the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie staring the charming John Depp and sexy Penelope Cruz. Filled with epic swash buckling adventure this movie has summer audiences ready to return to the world of pirate times. Now most 4th entries into trilogies really suck, think Indiana Jones, Terminator ect but did Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides break the curse? find out after the break!
I just watched Winnebago Man, a hilarious doc following the re discovery of the angriest man in the world Jack Rebney. I laughed my ass off at the original clips of him from the 70s but was this feature doc able to rub my funny bone the same way? Find out after the break!
I just watched Rango, the animated animal western staring Johny Depp as the title Chameleon character who gets stuck in the western desert and is the city of Dirt’s only hope to survive a deadly drought. Does this movie push the boundary of filmmaking or fall on its face in the dirt? Find out after the break!
This movie is super adorable yet super secretive. Its marketed as a kids film but is in fact a well crafted majestic journey for any western lover wishing to re live the class days of the man with no name. All the computer animation is incredibly well polished and the voice acting is second to none. However the real champion of this film is how cliché this movie is.
You may be thinking wait Derrick usually that is a terrible thing! Not true when it’s a period piece your talking about and although it dosnt say it on the surface this truly is based on the classic westerns of the Clint Eastwood era and is in fact the perfect period piece.
So its cliché and this time it’s a really good thing. Go check it out if you like Clint or Classic Westerns or am just in the mood for a great Animated flick

I just watched Waking Sleeping Beauty a full length documentary about the second renascence of Disney Animation. This time during the early 90s resulted in major shake-ups in Disney overall and radical changes in the traditional Disney Animation Studios. This feature doc does something rare for historical docs and uses only footage shot during the time period. Did it work or not? Find out after the break!
I just watched I’m Still Here staring Joaquin Phoenix.
I really don’t know how to start talking about this film or movie or doc or whatever it is, im not really sure how to classify something of this… character. Right now I have quite strong feelings about this video I watched so after the break we will hear whats to say about I’m Still Here.
I just watched Tron Legacy
I’ve never seen the original Tron all the way through. I tried to watch it several years ago but was to intoxicated and all I remember is them in the tank and then credits. It was dated cg and tech but I kinda understood how it could have been cool twenty years ago. Now a days we have seen everything from giant robots to giant monsters created in cg so our expectations every year is rising and rising and an unprecedented rate. Tron Legacy was supposed to be Disney’s hit of the year yet it bombed hard at the box office. Good or bad here we go, Wifihighfive movie review time!
One of my all time favorite underrated movies is 310 To Yuma, staring Christian Bale and Russel Crowe as a respectable farmer and a wanted outlaw. 310 to Yuma is about the classic age of the lawless wild west, and when it came on last night on History Channel I had to pause my editing for a couple hours and settle into a great movie. Although I’ve already seen the movie and have already praised how much I love it I’m still going to review it and I guess your still going to read it because why else are you here? To hear me talk about my stock portfolio? I think not… so find out after the break what I really think.
I Just watched Buried.
One of my greatest fears in the world is being Buried alive like Nick from CSI several seasons back. Buried with Ryan Reynolds was probs not a good choice for viewing but it had rave reviews from Sundance last year and some say its good to grab your fears by the horns and rip of the head of the charging bull before it gorges you in the groin. Also Ryan is the only on screen actor throughout the entire 90 minute film which is something very new and very different so I watched it and take a look after the break how I felt about it.
I just watched Titanic; the James Cameron masterpiece from 1997 that was the all time highest grossing movie… until James Cameron was like yeah ill make another movie. Avatar; which doubled Titanic’s gross on the miniscule budget of only 500 million dollars (300 million on making it and an estimated 200 in marketing.) Well like the rest of the world I’ve seen Titanic before, but not in several years so when Steph mentioned that it was her favorite movie I had to rewatch it so here we go!
I just watched 127 Hours about the harrowing tale of adventurer Aron Ralston who was out doing his thing out in the wild, running, biking, jumping, adventuring. While out concurring nature he falls into a crevice and a boulder pins his arm and he’s forced to amputate it with a dull knife. Yeah this guys pure man and we get to go along for the ride. Was it incredible journey or utter flop? Find out after the break!
Keeping with our theme of movies centered around good hearted idiots, I just finished watching Dinner for Shmucks staring Steve Carrel, Paul Rudd, Zack Galiflanakis and Jermaine Clament. It was a wild ride with a full barrel of twists and turns along the way with each of these extraordinary people bringing a different zany to this funny comedy. But the more important question was if it hit the mark or was just a mess of too much strange to be understood. Find out after the break!
I just watched Gulliver’s Travels. You know that classic story from your childhood that you used to read in a colorful children’s storybook? Yeah well now they have a movie staring Jack Black as the title character venturing to a far off land filled with people the size of your thumb. Is Gulliver’s Travels thumbs up or thumbs down? Find out after the break!
