I Just watched...Tron Legacy

I just watched Tron Legacy

I’ve never seen the original Tron all the way through. I tried to watch it several years ago but was to intoxicated and all I remember is them in the tank and then credits. It was dated cg and tech but I kinda understood how it could have been cool twenty years ago. Now a days we have seen everything from giant robots to giant monsters created in cg so our expectations every year is rising and rising and an unprecedented rate. Tron Legacy was supposed to be Disney’s hit of the year yet it bombed hard at the box office. Good or bad here we go, Wifihighfive movie review time!

Wow if I was to sum up this movie with one word it would be bipolar. There are truly great parts in this film but within mere moments of each one of these parts is an equally shitty element that just makes you cringe. There are spectacular visuals in this film but then a character will open their mouth and say the stupidest thing that just makes you want to get back to life. Good looking dog crap is still dog crap.  I feel so sorry for fans of the original film that had to wait this long to have their hopes, and dreams shattered in front of them.

Now the good parts. The concept of the grid is really cool, one that I think one day might even become a reality. Already so much of our life is lived in the digital realm that eventually we will live it all.  Really loved the computer interfaces in the real world, that someday will be the great great grandson of the ipad. The score is incredible; I actually downloaded it the day it was available and its been in heavy rotation ever since. Daft Punk managed to create something a superb score that to me feels like a digital Hanz Zimmer score. Makes great study music. There have been whispers of a sequel to this and story was interesting but not complete; more how do we go set piece to set piece and make it look cool. Hopefully they get it better second round. Lastly the DUDE has some stelar moments, like in the nightclub turning off all power by touching the ground like that.dammmmn.

As usual I want to hear all your comments below!

Every time I think of this movie I am instantly reminded of the fat guy in the Tron suit.

OK...I am going to watch - I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of the plot, but it looks too cool not to experience. Thanks for the review!

I agree with pretty much everything in this. Bipolar is probably the best overall description.

Haven't seen it, if you give it a 7/10 I best check it out. I'll never look at a movie less than 6!

The first Tron is pretty badass, with all it's super-old effects and charm.

Daft Punk in the follow-up? Sounds good to me :D

I liked the movie. I have seen the original and it has much the same feel to it. I'd say this is more for the fans of the old than it is for newbies.

Yea, promos looked sick but I guess it didn't translate to ticket sales.

I appreciate this as a fellow movie reviewer. I have yet to see Legacy, mainly because I feel I should watch the original first. Maybe I'll stream them both.

I loved it, the audio and visuals made up for everything else that was bad in the movie. I loved the original, and I loved this one.
