Question of the Day: To Blog or not to Blog?

Every day in Egypt the region becomes more and more deadly. Mass rioting and looting all over the country has resulted in hundreds dead and thousands of priceless artifacts from museums being taken or destroyed. And the more pressing issue that the internet was shut off...makes me concerned. I use the internet almost from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed; be it at home, at school, on set pretty much all the time I like being hooked into it and I very much enjoy the ability to upload my thoughts, opinions, pictures, movies and whatever I want, whenever I want. If that was taken away I really do not know what I would do, which raises a someone rhetorical question to everyone here on blogger following me.

"Why do you blog?'

Out of my 100 closest friends, I would say only 4-5, other than my self blog on a regular basis. Twenty or so people like me enjoy exploring the internet for information/picutres/movies whatever through useful tools like 4chan, reddit, or stumbleupon and maybe even Twitter. Most of the other people use the internet for less than 10 sites with the main site being Facebook. These are the people who are most surprised that I spend time daily blogging my thoughts, opinions and content to a bunch of people who I barely know, so the question of why I blog comes up a lot. I usually answer this question with my own question, "Why would I not blog?"

In today's day and age its quite easy to have meaningful relationships with people across the world through the power of social media sites, email, text and msn. When I blog, I'm expressing what is valuable to me and when someone else discovers it also a relationship is built. I blog because I feel my life is worth more than a status update on Facebook or 140 characters on Twitter, and im quite sure many of you feel the same. I kinda want to know why all of you blog be it for money, fun or something else. Also a bit of a second question how much on average do you spend a day blogging and do you think you could do it for a living? As mentioned above, yesterdays questions had to deal with the shit storm in Egypt and I got several lively comments including DesignandLaugh which made me smirk when I saw it:
"Both are pretty frightening. I think talking about an internet shutdown over a blog is pretty ironic,
but also makes the point hit closer to home."

Tell me why about your blogging mantra and you can be featured as tommorrows comment of the day, oh and be sure to check out the wallpapers I uploaded earlier today, they are some of the best me thinks.

I'm glad my post amused you. It has served its purpose.

And I am totally only in it for the money. Though it is also a good way to get my stuff known even just a little bit more.

I blog so I can see how far I've come in my running. I like to blog about specific runs as well, to remember how I felt after each of them. I also learn little things each time, such as to wear two pairs of gloves when it's cold out, and re-reading the blog from a year ago or whatever reminds me of what I've learnt. :)

I like to blog because it kinda forces me to write on a daily basis to a public. The income is just a welcome extra.
