times a wasting

Today I had a startling realization. The time of my generation dominance over what’s cool, trendy and how the world should adapt is ending. I remember an article about Sonys marketing strategy a couple years ago was that 19 years old was the prime age they tried to market them selves too. Teenager’s wanted to be older to play the M rated games and older people wanted to kick back to the age of no responsibility making 19 the ideal age for both. Earlier today I saw a YouTube commercial about the Justin Beiber generation of 12 year olds saying what they will want as a generation in ten years when they hit that magic age of 18-25 when all marketers cater everything towards you.

They were all so young and all had the same dumb hair cut and it kind of scared me with the realization that im getting old and that soon the world really wont care what I have to say or what my opinion is on the newest shampoo or other new product. Although I don’t often give my say about shit like that its comforting to know that if ever I wanted to give my opinion there would be hundreds of add agencies or marketing companies eager to hear to to improve their product or media campaign. Now most media revolves around trying to get me to interesting in what I’m seeing but in five to ten years it wont be the case.

That's something people don't really think about often. I kind of freaked out when you mentioned my opinion becoming obsolete, but I suppose money always speaks loudest.

It's kind of sad, however, people make videos like this. It turns the entire generation into a giant money machine, ripe for exploitation. It's too impersonal.

Thanks for sharing.

Good read, I just hope we have to see less and less of beiber as time goes on.

I was confused, then raged, then realized its true, then realized everything those kids said was written by people older and smarter than them. Then I realized I will be one of those people who has to market to that generation. Realized I will profit off their trends.. Then remembered that usually marketers create their own demand.. feels good man.

I think that commercial exaggerates a bit no?

lol, who knows, the future is exciting; maybe all the technological advances will be caused by advertisement ventures instead of battlefield necessities.

if you really think about it, your opinion doesn't matter, mine doesn't either. what influence does your opinion and mine have upon the world in general? very little. therefore making this comment inconsequential.

I'm glad I'm no longer the main trend setter of the world. I was getting a little tired anyway.
